It's not an updated model, but an all-new 2022 Honda Civic

Honda Malaysia has announced that its latest 2022 Honda Civic is now open for booking with its official launch just around the corner. The 11th generation Civic comes packed with a new exterior design, enhanced powertrain, as well as updated safety features.

The all-new Honda Civic is also said to be ‘the most fun to drive Civic ever made' and will be officially available in the first quarter of 2022. Its overall exterior design is said to be inspired by the third-gen Civic which was unveiled back in 1983, but with a dose of modern stylings which Honda calls the 'New Age Identity'.

Measurements is set at 4,678mm in length, 1,802mm in width, with a height of 1,415mm and 2,735mm in its wheelbase, which means that the new 2022 Honda Civic is actually larger and wider than its predecessor together with a low yet wide stance thanks to its new design approach using Lazer Brazing technology.

For the first time in the Civic's history, an RS variant will also be introduced which is said to offer enhanced levels of sportiness. The RS will be exclusively equipped with black-out parts for its side mirrors, antenna, door handles, trunk spoiler, and of course, a set of 18-inch black matte alloy wheels.

If firepower is of concern, the 11th-gen Honda Civic will come with an enhanced 1.5-litre VTEC turbo engine which produces 180hp and 240Nm of torque. Compared to the current Civic offering, that's an increase of around 10hp and 20Nm of torque. There will also be three driving modes - ECON, Normal, and Sport.

The will be several models on offer as usual, but the RS will be equipped with the latest Honda SENSING safety suite which comes with the newly-included Lead Car Departure Notification System plus many more like:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC)
  • Low-Speed Follow (LSF)
  • Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS)
  • Forward Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Lane Keep Assist System (LKAS)
  • Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Auto High Beam (AHB)

As stated above, expect the new 11th-gen Honda Civic to be officially launched within the first quarter of 2022. For now, those who are interested can place your booking at all authorised Honda showrooms nationwide.
