The all-new 2022 Honda City Hatchback is here & it comes in four different flavours

Honda Malaysia has officially launched the all-new Honda City Hatchback for the Malaysian market. For the first time in the country, the five-door City Hatchback is made available and it'll come in four different variants - S, E, V, and the range-topping RS e:HEV.

With over 2,000 bookings placed by Malaysians across the country, the all-new Honda City Hatchback is set to create some waves in the B-hatchback segment with a number of first-in-segment features, but most of those are of course reserved for the top-of-the-pop RS e:HEV model.

Exterior-wise, the City Hatchback is all about offering a sporty facade with an equal dose of versatility in terms of what it has to offer, like its Ultra Seats configurations. That sleek outer appearance is further amplified with the RS e:HEV variant thanks to the exclusive RS body kit and trims inside out, plus those 16-inch alloy wheels (15-inch for the S and E models).

There are quite a number of differences between all four variants, which is why the price hikes are justified in terms of what each model is equipped with. Starting from RM75,760 up to RM86,870 (expected OTR prices excluding insurance), these numbers only cover for the S, E, and V models. The RS e:HEV's price, however, will be announced sometime in early 2022.

As for firepower, the first three variants are equipped with the same 1.5-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine that produces a healthy 121PS and 145Nm of torque. Power is all delivered down to the wheels via a Continuous Variable Transmission (CVT) unit with a fuel consumption figure of 5.6L/100km.

If you're willing to wait for the RS e:HEV model, this range-topper is fitted with Honda's latest 1.5-litre Sports i-MMD e:HEV powertrain, a hybrid unit that churns out 109PS and a class-leading 253Nm of torque. Fuel consumption figure is rated at an impressive 3.6L/100km for the top-of-the-line Honda City Hatchback variant.

You can expect the Honda City Hatchback RS e:HEV variant to be floating somewhere around the RM100k mark just like its sedan sibling as it also comes with the Honda SENSING safety suite that includes some very fancy stuff like:
