UMW Toyota Motor has officially launched the Toyota Innova and Fortuner in Malaysia. This comes a month after opening the order books for both body-on-frame models, which have received substantial updates for 2021.

As per the announcement in January, the three confirmed variants of the Toyota Innova, namely the 2.0E, 2.0G and 2.0X are priced at RM111,622, RM121,483 and RM129,677 respectively. All variants of the MPV run on the same 139PS/183Nm naturally-aspirated VVT-i engine mated to a six-speed automatic Toyota calls ‘Super ECT’. Interestingly, the 2.0E and 2.0G are offered in an eight-seat configuration while the plusher 2.0X, which gets captain seats and leather upholstery among others, only accommodates seven.

Meanwhile, the biggest news on the Toyota Fortuner’s front is a new, range-topping 2.8 VRZ 4x4 variant which displaces the outgoing 2.4 VRZ. The beefier engine produces 204PS and 500Nm of twist, while the old 2.7-litre SRZ 4x4 with 166PS and 245Nm soldiers on as a more affordable option with a more conventional front end. The off-road ready duo are priced close to RM31k apart, with the 2.7 SRZ kicking things of from RM172,244 and the 2.8 VRZ topping out at RM203,183

All prices take into account the ongoing SST exemption, which has been extended till June 2021. They also include a five-year unlimited-mileage warranty. In the case of the Toyota Fortuner, customers will also benefit from the cost effectiveness of longer service intervals, with UMWT now extending the service interval for its turbodiesel engines from 5,000km or three months to 10,000km or six months, whichever comes first.
