Get your earplugs out and hide the kids, because the 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic+ has landed in Malaysia looking meaner than ever before. Just a couple of months after launching the W213 E-Class facelift, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia is at it again, this time with AMG's full-fat E, complete with Affalterbach's signature 4.0-litre bi-turbo V8 engine.

Power remains unchanged, not that the German super saloon really needed any more than the 612bhp and 850Nm of twist that was always at its disposal since Day One. This authoritarian output goes to all four wheels – 4Matic+ mah – via an AMG Speedshift multi-clutch nine-speed transmission which packs a new wet multi-plate start-off clutch taht replaces the old torque converter. At full blast, the AWD powertrain sends the hefty Merc barreling up to 100kph from a standstill in 3.4 seconds, with top speed rated at a supercar-stalking 300kph.

The facelifted W213 E63 retains its old party trick, which is a Drift mode that locks power delivery to the rear axle, effectively turning the car into a RWD bruiser. For less sideways action and quicker lap times, an electronically regulated rear axle-locking differential reduces slip on the inside wheel when cornering, allowing quicker exits out of turns with minimal intervention from the brakes.

Naturally, the new E63 gains all of the cosmetic improvements as the standard W213 E-Class. This includes redesigned front and rear portions with refined light clusters and a new Panamericana grille to go with the more polished look. Inside, the new AMG Performance steering wheel takes centre stage. It's similar to the one in the E300 AMG Line at first glance, but with extra controls (i.e. AMG Dynamic Select) and the yellow-on-Dinamica microfibre upholstery. The MBUX system is also supposedly enhanced, and features AMG-specific displays and settings, plus an AMG Menu which gives drivers access to engine data, G-meter and race timer among others.

The 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S 4Matic+ is a lot of car, which naturally commands a lot of money. Mercedes-Benz Malaysia has priced it from RM1,118,888 inclusive of sales tax, which sounds about right for one of the most powerful and thoroughly-equipped four-door saloons money can buy today. And buyers are guaranteed a temporary Mercedes-Benz replacement car should it need 48 hours or more to complete its service, maintenance or warranty claim, such is the life of those who wield power.

What colour will you have yours in, fine sir?
