2021 BMW S 1000 RR and R 18 Classic unveiled – From RM121,500

By sep, 26 February 2021

BMW Motorrad Malaysia joined in the fun today with the official launch of the 2021 BMW S 1000 RR and BMW R 18 Classic. These two models right now are the ultimate superbike and Heritage two-wheelers that you can get right here in Malaysia, together with the previously released BMW R 18 First Edition.

Starting off with the 2021 BMW S 1000 RR, the is relatively the same as before but to further elevate the ownership experience of future owners,  BMW Motorrad Malaysia decided to include the previously optional BMW M Package as standard for this particular model. This package includes the M carbon wheels, M sport seat and the M lightweight battery.

uture owners can still add a number of options to further personalise the BMW S 1000 RR like the M carbon parts footrests, M brake-clutch lever, a selection of windscreens, M Datalogger and Laptrigger, M seats with different height settings, M cover kit, M calibration kit, tank and rear bags.

Other newly-included standard features include Riding Mode Pro (with Dynamic Traction Control and ABS Pro) and Dynamic Damping Control (DDC) to complement existing specs like four riding modes, Hill Start Control, and HP Shift Assistant Pro.

If power is what you’re looking for, then its 999cc inline-four engine is able to deliver a powerful 207hp at 13,500rpm and 113Nm of torque at 11,000rpm. This translates to a top speed of over 299kph easily without breaking a sweat. That’s right, this thing is a serious, serious beast.

For those who are interested, the 2021 BMW S 1000 RR is available for purchase starting today at a price tag of RM121,500 (on-the-road without insurance). Four colour options are available – Hockenheim Silver, Blackstorm Metallic, Light White/Racing Blue Metallic, and Racing Red.

Moving on the latest addition into the brand’s Heritage offering, the BMW R 18 Classic variant can be said to be a slightly refined model compared to the limited-edition BMW R 18 First Edition model. It seems that BMW Motorrad took hold of all the feedbacks received when they introduced the First Edition, and make some good changes to the Classic variant.

The BMW R 18 Classic comes with additional LED fog lights, windshield, removable passenger seat, saddle bags, a fat 16-inch front wheel, and most importantly, electronic cruise control. The final addition in particular further enhances the bike’s riding capabilities, especially when travelling long distances.

Powered by BMW Motorrad’s biggest boxer engine yet, the R 18 Classic is primed with a 1,802cc two-cylinder engine that produces 91hp and 158Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission, anti-hopping clutch, and a final driveshaft send all that power to the rear wheel in style and substance. Oh, it also has a reverse gear, too.

Other features include:

  • Selectable riding modes (Rock, Roll, and Rain)
  • Steering stabiliser
  • BMW Motorrad Integral Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS)
  • Automatic Stability Control (ASC) + many more

Just like the 2021 BMW S 1000 RR, the R 18 Classic is now available at all authorised BMW Motorrad showrooms across Malaysia priced at RM154,500 (on-the-road without insurance). You can have it in any colour you want, as long as it’s Black Storm Metallic.
