[There are some corrections regarding the spec sheet of the upcoming Perodua Axia, as reflected in this updated article]

Perodua is now taking orders for the 2019 Axia with six variants available - E, G, GXtra, SE, AV and a new STYLE variant. They are priced from an estimated RM24,090 - 43,190 (OTR before insurance for Peninsular Malaysia), all powered using a 1.0 litre 1KR-VE engine with variable valve timing and mated to a 5-speed manual transmission (E variant), or 4-speed automatic.

“The Axia is at the very core of what Perodua stands for – to provide affordable and fuss-free mobility for all. Over 380,000 units have found homes since we first introduced the model in September 2014, and it was in fact our best-seller from 2015 through 2017,” said Perodua president and chief executive officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad.

Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0) we first saw in the Perodua Aruz SUV debuts in the Axia AV variant. That makes the Axia the most affordable car in Malaysia with a safety suite that includes Pedestrian Detection (up to 50 km/h), Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100kph), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80kph), Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control.

Additionally, all variants from GXtra and above are equipped with Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and traction control, and all variants except the base E have ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution as standard.

Today, with rated fuel efficiencies of 22.5km/l for the manual, 21.6km/l for the auto and 20.8km/l for the new STYLE variant, it continues to be among the most fuel-efficient vehicles in the country.

On the new STYLE variant, Dato’ Zainal said, “Perodua is taking a bold new step with the Axia STYLE, a new addition to the Axia family that will appeal to the fun and active side of your personality – stay tuned!”

The 2019 Perodua Axia is offered with a five-year/150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).
