Peugeot 208 PureTech and 2008 PureTech launched

New engines are more efficient. Also new is Nasim’s 5-year warranty

Following the models’ preview a few months back, Nasim Sdn. Bhd. has officially introduced the Peugeot 208 PureTech and 2008 PureTech today. Both will replace the ‘regular’ 208 and 2008 models sold all this while.

The new 1.2L, 3-cyl PureTech petrol engine is the critical difference which produces 111bhp and 205Nm of torque. Efficiency is the name of the game and this one is able to deliver a claimed 4.2-litre per 100km, a best-in-class performance.

Start-stop is a standard feature, apparently deactivating the engine when moving below 20kph before restarting smoothly (and quicker by 40%). The company’s data show that fuel consumption goes down by as much as 15% in dense urban traffic condition. Power goes to the front wheels through a 6-speed auto.

The 208 PureTech hatchback exterior sports a new bumper with wider fully integrated front grille, new headlamps, 3D LED rear lamps. The 2008 PureTech SUV, meanwhile, comes with a new vertical front grille, new lighting signature with LED DRL and fog lamp with cornering assist. The alloys are 17-inch while the hatchback’s are 16 inch.

Peugeots stunning i-Cockpit features a 7-inch colour touchscreen, heads-up display, Arkhamys 3D audio system with 6 speakers and dual zone climate control. The SUV comes with the added bling of panoramic roof with blue LED lighting.

Safety features for both models include six airbags, ESP, anti-skid regulation and dynamic stability control. Hill start assist and three Isofix points are standard. The 208 and 2008 PureTech have achieved a five star rating from Euro NCAP thanks to, among others, use of Very High Strength Steel.

Price for the 208 PureTech and 2008 PureTech are RM89,888 and RM109,888 respectively (first 100 units only).

First 100 buyers for each model will also get a complimentary three years free service.
