Honda Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. has issued a recall for the Odyssey (model year 2014-2017) and Accord (MY 2013-2016), involving a concern over battery sensor failure, and defective door mirror component.

The number of vehicles involved total 49,116, with the Accord numbering 20,233 units for possible battery sensor failure and 27,912 units for defective door mirror component. Total Odyssey units involved is 971.

The battery sensor failure is due to inaccurate forming on the printed circuit board (battery sensor) during production. It’s possible that the sensor may cause an electrical short circuit, creating smoke or even fire.

The door mirror component worry is due to inconsistent surface treatment within the retracting switch. The result of which may cause the respective door mirror to retract during driving or parking.

So far, no fire or incidents have been reported that are related to these issues.

Currently the availability of replacement parts for both components are at 50 per cent. Affected customers should make an appointment at any Honda authorised dealer to rectify the problem, for free of course. Notification letter will be sent to those involved.
