Honda has made another cracking concept

If Honda’s design department was a Snapchat filter, it’d be the flame that reads ‘lit’. Over the last few months, the Japanese firm has furnished the world with cutesy, unexpectedly retro-futuristic concepts that are, frankly, amazing.

First there was the Urban EV concept (a glassy box, shorter than a Honda Jazz but with infinitely better stance), then there was the Honda Sports EV concept (the Urban EV’s ace two-seater sports car sibling and potential future-proof S2000). Now, there is a third.

CB4 Interceptor concept 2

It’s called the CB4 Interceptor concept, and as you can probably tell from the pictures, it’s a bike, not a car. And unlike the two previous concepts, the CB4 doesn’t care for electricity. Instead, the CB4 uses the same engine as Honda’s new CB1000R that’s juiced by good old fossil fuels. Remember them?

CB4 Interceptor concept 3

Finished in menacing black, there’s an endurance-style half fairing, slick tyres, and an extremely sleek under-seat exhaust. But, take a closer look at the cowling that’s a throwback to 1960s racing bikes. Hidden in it is some forward-thinking technology: a fan. Yes, a fan. If you look closely enough you can see a turbine secreted in the middle of the LED headlight ring that generates electricity on the move to power a touchscreen display on the tank (we guess you don’t wear gloves in the future) that displays your sat-nav, connects to your phone and makes emergency calls when you inevitably fall off.

Either way, is this, the Urban EV and Sports EV the perfect three toy garage of the future?
