The Honda Civic Hatchback Prototype is now at the GAIKINDO Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), making its first appearance in Asia and Oceania. This 5-door hatchback of the 10th generation Honda Civic is equipped with a 1.5-litre VTEC turbo Earth Dreams engine. In the ‘regular’ Honda Civic sedan the engine produces 172hp and 220Nm.

As said by Noriaki Abe, Chief Operating Officer, Regional Operations (Asia & Oceania) Honda Motor Co. Ltd., “We are proud to present the Civic Hatchback Prototype for the first time in Asia and Oceania. This model will be equipped with a turbo VTEC engine that is sporty and efficient, and will be launched in Indonesia during the first half of 2017.”

The Civic Hatchback Prototype was first unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year and is said to be the ‘sportiest’ Civic ever. Of course, we’re sure this didn’t take into account the Type-R.

The car is 30mm wider, 20mm lower and 130mm longer than the previous generation yet with a longer wheelbase.

At the same press event, HPM also launched an additional variant for the Civic turbo sedan, known as the Prestige. So far, the 10th generation Civic sedan holds a dominant 41% share in the Indonesian market’s small sedan segment ever since the car’s launch in April 2016
