The new Isuzu mu-X truck is here, facelifted to incorporate exterior and interior upgrades, as well as safety improvements. This seven-seater now comes with blue spectrum bi-LED projector headlamps, six airbags, softer textures around the interior, 18-inch alloy wheels, and new Havana Brown colour. Hill Descent Control is also a standard feature.

The front sports a more elaborate and sporty front fascia which, according to Isuzu, is inspired by the bald eagle. The headlamp comes with auto-levelling feature.

Details of upgrades include a new electroluminescent (e-Lumax) meter panel with multi-information display. The seats look more appealing with the quilt pattern. Passengers get a better sounding infotainment system via eight speakers plus fold-down 8-inch DVD touchscreen monitor installed on the roof. However, the 4x2 version of the mu-X has a 7-inch screen.

Priced at RM176,640 for the two-wheel drive variant and RM183,000 for the four-wheel drive (both without insurance), the new mu-X is equipped with a 5-speed automatic gearbox with no manual box’ option. Up front is a 2,499cc turbodiesel that makes 136ps at 3,400rpm and 320Nm between 1,800-2,800rpm.

“Our vehicles have always been designed on our three key principals in fuel efficiency, reliability, and durability. The thousands of hours spent by our engineers in refining the Isuzu mu-X has resulted in the pinnacle engine build, and enable us to provide five years unlimited mileage warranty,” said Kenji Matsuoka, CEO of Isuzu Malaysia (TCS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and Hill-Start Assist.

The new Hill-Descent Control (HDC) feature makes going down steep angles easier and safer. The driver can adjust vehicle speed to suit slope conditions using the brake or accelerator pedal up to a maximum of 30kph. This feature also works while going forward, or in reverse.
