BMW Motorrad Malaysia ramped up its line up for the local market yet again earlier this month in conjunction with its BMW Motorrad Nightfuel event in Penang. This time round, the marque brought forth four new models on top of three others that were launched last month.

New into the line up here are the refreshed S1000RR superbike and R1200GS, followed by two brand new models in the form of the K1600 Bagger and the BMW R nineT Urban GS. Here’s a quick break down of all four new additions.

2017 BMW S1000RR

We’ll start with the refreshed 2017 iteration of BMW’s acclaimed litre-class missile that is the S1000RR. It still packs the same 999cc in-line four-cylinder heart as before that kicks out 199hp and 113Nm, but the mill has been revised to comply with strict new Euro 4 emissions standards.

Besides that, it offers three selectable ride modes as standard – Rain, Sport and Race – plus the Race ABS and Dynamic Traction Control suites as well. The latter DTC has been reoptimised in this 2017 model with a banking sensor and seven selectable levels.

Priced from RM106,900 (sans insurance and registration), the 2017 BMW S1000RR can be had in two two-tone colour scheme options as well – Granite Grey/Black Storm or Racing Red/Light White.

2017 BMW R1200GS

Next comes the 2017 iteration of the venerable R1200GS travel enduro machine. This revised base model slot below the R1200GS Adventure launched last month and comes with a light nip-and-tuck plus a powertrain reoptimisation to meet Euro 4 emissions standards.

This model’s signature air/liquid-cooled 1,170cc boxer twin heart with a revised ECU, an altered catalytic converter as well as a an improved shaft setup to manage the 125hp and 125Nm outputs generated.

Besides that, the revised 2017 BMW R1200GS also gets on-road tyres, standard comfort seats and a centre stand as standard. This refreshed travel enduro commands a starting price of RM105,900 (without insurance and registration).

2017 BMW K1600 Bagger

As the name suggest, this is the premium motorcycle marque’s take on the famed American-styled bagger touring machine that’s based off its highly successful K1600 GT/GTL luxury tourer. This model shares a similar chassis architecture (minus the rear frame) and signature 1,649cc in-line six-cylinder powerplant encased in an unmistakable bagger design with a lower seat height.

Like the tourer it underpins, the K1600 Bagger packs plenty of tech and luxury for the discerning touring rider such as Reverse Assist and the Shift Assistant Pro quickshifter amongst others. This German take on the American school of touring bikes is priced from RM159,000 (without insurance and registration).

BMW R nineT Urban GS

This latest addition into the retro-inspired R nineT series harks back to the glory days of the original BMW R80GS model off-road enduro from the 1980s with its design. It now rivals strongly against the Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled that was recently launched here as well.

It shares the same platform and 1,170cc air/oil-cooled boxer twin as the rest of its siblings, offering 110hp that powers the rear wheel via a shaft drive setup. Notable features include quad-piston Monobloc brake calipers with ABS-regulation deceleration, cast alloy wheels front (19-inch) and aft (17-inch), optional deep-treaded off road tyres, as well as ab Automatic Stability Control suite.

You can now go off-road in perfect retro style with the BMW R nineT Urban GS provided that you meet the RM87,900 (without insurance and registration) asking price it commands.
