Hilux new

The new Hilux is already topping the sales chart in Thailand and will soon be launched in Malaysia. The highest variant gets seven airbags, ESC and seatbelt reminders for both front occupants, among others.

It is then not a surprise that the new Hilux scored a full 5-star rating for AOP and 4-star COP.

During the Asean Automotive Safety Forum in Bandung happening currently right now from 20 - 22 September at Institut Teknologi Bandung, Asean NCAP has released a few more crash test results - this time around targeting cars for the Indonesian market.

Datsun Go

Datsun Go, among the most affordable cars in Indonesia has received a 2-Star rating in the Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) and 2-Star rating for the Child Occupant Protection (COP). The unit tested came with single airbag, and no seatbelt reminder or Electronic Stability Control (ESC).

According to Khairil Anwar Abd Kassim, Secretary-general for Asean-NCAP, the Go was tested before by Global NCAP and the previous result was a no-star rating. Nissan has improved on the Go's body structure and added an airbag, making it a safer car than before.

Daihatsu Ayla No Airbag

Next is the Daihatsu Ayla, a cousin to our Perodua Axia. The Ayla crash tested came without any airbag, and no seatbelt reminder. It scored 1-star AOP and 2-star in COP.

Toyota Agya

Another Axia cousin, the Toyota Agya scored an impressive 4-star AOP and 4-star COP, the same as Axia. The car came with two airbags and no seatbelt reminder or ESC.

Below are the pictures of the crash tests conducted by Asean NCAP, done in its crash test facility in Melaka, and at their partners in Australia and Japan.
