Malaysian driver Weiron Tan has been named as CEFC Manor TRS Racing’s official test and reserve driver in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The opportunity to potentially race in one of motorsports’ most competitive leagues comes after the 22-year-old’s impressive rookie test in the team’s LMP2 car in Bahrain late last year.

“I am extremely excited to be part of the CEFC Manor TRS Racing family,” he remarked. “I am familiar with the team from Bahrain last year and we get along very well. This is an exciting step forward in my racing career.”

CEFC Manor president and sporting director Graeme Lowdon shared the positive sentiment, noting how Tan’s speed and professional approach during his LMP2 test in Bahrain were key points that convinced the team of his talents.

Prior to this appointment, Tan was making waves in the China GT Championship at the Beijing Goldenport Park, where his maiden race in Absolute Racing’s Bentley Continental GT3 ended in a promising fifth-place finish. Along with teammate Andrew Kim, Tan provided stiff competition to the likes of Macau GP winner Andre Couto, WEC front-runner Alexandre Imperatori and Porsche Carrera Cup France champion Maxime Jousse on the very technical circuit.
