The wildest ever Pagani Zonda: new HP Barchetta

Pagani doesn’t really do ‘regular’. Case in point, the Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta, revealed over the weekend at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance.

Little information has been revealed thus far, but you only need a set of eyes to discover that the Italian supercar maker hasn’t lost its penchant for the ballistic. It’s a Zonda like no other Zonda we’ve ever seen.

There’s a thin, wraparound windscreen, and no roof. No folding hard top nor canvas convertible, nada. The roof scoop is present and correct, mind, along with that delectable rear wing to give it proper banzai status. Think Lamborghini’s mad Aventador J, and you’re about there.

The nutjob Zonda speedster is said to weigh just 1,250kg – we suspect a heavy application of carbon fibre – and features fairings over the rear wheels. It’s an interpretation of what company boss Horacio Pagani imagined his own Zonda would look like. The 7.3-litre AMG-sourced V12 is on full noise duty, though power and performance outputs haven’t yet been disclosed. Something in excess of 700bhp would be a good bet.
