As speculated, Dr. Li Chunrong from Geely is now the CEO of Perusahaan Otomobil Nasional Sdn. Bhd. (PONSB), taking over from Dato’ Ahmad Fuaad Kenali. This was revealed by a joint DRB-HICOM-Zhejiang Geely Holding Group press conference earlier today.

Dato’ Radzaif Mohamed will continue his role as Proton’s Deputy CEO.

52-year old Dr. Li has been in the automotive industry for 30 years, with stints in Honda, Kia, and Dongfeng. He will start his Proton career on 1 October 2017.

Meanwhile, sitting on the board of PONSB are Shaharul Farez Hassan, Amalanathan Thomas, Daniel Donghui Li (Geely), Dr. Nathan Yu Ning (Geely), and Feng Qing Feng (Geely). Former Chairman and CEO of Skoda Auto, Winfried  Vahland, is also on the board of PONSB; with Dato’ Seri Syed Faisal Albar, Group CEO of DRB-HICOM retaining his position as Chairman of the Board.

This follows a change to the Board of Directors of Proton Holdings Berhad (PHB) which is filled by Syed Faisal (as Chairman), Shaharul Farez Hassan, Amalanathan Thomas, Daniel Donghui Li (Geely), and Feng Qing Feng (Geely).

There is also a change to the Proton Edar board, with Syed Faisal, Farez, Nathan, Daniel Donghui, and Dr. Nathan Yu Ning as members. Abdul Rashid Musa will continue to be CEO.
