Remember the days when Petaling Jaya used the scratch-and-display parking coupons? Well, if you don’t, it doesn’t matter because it is making a comeback. A report by The Star has confirmed that this method of parking payment will be implemented again beginning 4 September.

Looking at how much trouble the existing pay-and-display can be – with broken down machines and hassle of finding enough coins – this could be a welcome change. Or is it? After all, scratch-and-display does have its own issues. For example, it may be difficult to buy the parking coupons, especially if you need only one piece.

Which is why both methods of paying for parking under MBPJ territory will be accepted. Basically, if the parking payment machines in a certain area are unusable, then you can use the scratch-and-display coupons.

The new parking coupons will be available in three different versions. Also, motorists can purchase the hourly booklet of 10 coupons for RM6, or the daily booklet with five coupons for RM25.

The parking rate of 60 sen per hour is retained.
