Vespa Notte specials land in Malaysia

Want to mark your love and admiration for the Vespa marque in a much darker, 50 Shades of Grey-esque fashion? Then both the Vespa Sprint Notte and GTS Notte special editions might just sate your lust for everything dark and black – literally.

Oh, just in case you didn’t know, Notte translates into ‘Night’ in Italian, and these specials aptly embody a darker, sexier persona thanks to their special and exclusive blacked-out aesthetic treatment that would surely invoke the envy of Mr Grey, or perhaps a certain Mr Wayne – whichever floats your boat.

Brand custodian Naza Premira Sdn Bhd introduced both models earlier today during a special press preview held in BLVD, Kuala Lumpur. Just a handful of each has been allocated for the Malaysian market, and here is what’s in store with each.

Vespa Sprint Notte
Starting off with the smaller offering of the two, this special underpins the recently face-lifted Vespa Sprint model launched not long ago. Aptly, instead of the vibrant colours this sporty, square-lamped model is usually dressed in, this one exclusively gets a special shade of matte black.

Complementing that, nearly all of the usual chrome brightworks and accents have been replaced for blacked-out ones too, not forgetting the special blacked-out seat saddle as well. Completing the looks is a set of 12-inch alloy wheels that’s also finished in – surprise, surprise – black.

Beyond this, this is the Vespa Sprint 150 ABS we’re all familiar with, which packs an air-cooled 155cc single-cylinder heart with a twist-and-go CVT transmission, single-channel ABS suite (Front) plus a neat USB charging port and modern LED lighting.

Want one? Well, you’d best hurry and place your bookings now as just 52 units have been allocated for Malaysia, each commanding a sticker price of RM17,700.

This one, on the other hand, underpins, the big-bodied and high-powered Vespa GTS Super 300 as its base, albeit the pre-facelift version – no LED headlight with this one sadly. Nevertheless, the blacked-out treatment resonates here once thanks to the matte black paint scheme plus blacked-out accents, wheels and seat saddle.

No doubt, this darker and sexier new stance complements an already special offering. This is after all based off of the fastest and most powerful Vespa scooter to date, which packs a liquid-cooled 278.3cc (300cc) single-cylinder mill that outputs nearly 21hp and 22Nm to the rear wheel.

Elsewhere, much of the GTS Super 300 base bike’s notable features remain unchanged too. Notable here are its dual disc brakes setup supplemented with a two-channel ABS suite, ASR (Assisted Slip Reduction) traction control suite, as well as a USB charging port and electric seat saddle release.

Like the Sprint Notte launched alongside it, allocations of the GTS Notte special in Malaysia are also limited, this time down to just 19 units. And besides the need for a B-full license to own one, you’ll also need to meet its steep asking price tag of RM29,000.
