Yup, you read that right – the Toyota C-HR has already received an update. For something that is just over a year old in the Malaysian market, it’s what us in the business would call ‘quick’. But fate has it as such and for that, the jazzy-looking compact SUV gets a new look for its 17-inch lightweight alloys with dual-tone design.

New garnish strips on the front and rear bumpers, and the addition of body mouldings along the sides highlight the emotive surfacing of the body exterior, complementing the Keen Look Identity. These add to the personality of the C-HR which has a strong presence in the growing compact crossover segment.

Would you get excited if we say ‘TRD’ and C-HR in the same sentence? No? Well pretend anyway, because the C-HR can now be paired with a TRD-designed Aerokit which adds extensions to the front and rear bumpers. These have a metallic finish and overfenders around the wheel arches to give a more muscular look. Since the aerokit was manufactured at Toyota’s (Thailand) factory – and installation done by UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) – this is one aftermarket add-on which does not void the warranty.

New items inside the cabin include an updated infotainment system with 6.75-inch touchscreen capable of connectivity via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Oh, back to the exterior… there’s a new colour called Radiant Green Metallic.

The other five colours are Metal Stream Metallic, White Pearl, Blue Metallic, Attitude Black and Red Mica. To accentuate its stand-out style, the vehicles in Blue Metallic, Radiant Green Metallic and Red Mica comes with a black roof.

Since the C-HR’s launch, UMWT has sold over 4000 units in 2018 and is confident that this new update will be well accepted by its customers.

Toyota outlets throughout the country has been accepting orders for the updated C-HR since 16 January 2019. The compact SUV’s RM150,000 starting price has not changed since launch and those who make the purchase now wouldn’t have to wait long – UMWT expects to start making deliveries of the C-HR in February.
