The torrential rain in Japan back in July had a slight effect to the CX-5 and Mazda3 assembly in Kulim, Kedah due to some CKD pack delivery delays from Japan. When asked by Topgear.com.my, a Bermaz Auto said that while the rain in Japan had some effect to the local assembly activity, the effect was minimal and in fact the late shipment has already arrived. “We’re not far off the mark,” Top Gear is told. Some imports are delayed too, but this too was only minimal.

A few days ago, Mazda Japan had reissued a statement indicating that plant operations at the Ujina Plants in Hiroshima and Hofu Plants in Hiroshima has returned to normal after suspending operations due to torrential rains that resulted in flooding, landslides, and logistical problems.

The decrease in production of vehicles as well as knockdown parts for overseas production dropped by 44,000 units and 23,000 units respectively. Financially, this amounts to an operational loss of about 28 billion yen, or approximately RM1.03 billion.
