The new Toyota Supra is already a NASCAR

Is there a more eagerly anticipated car than the new Toyota Supra? It’s been previewed by the Gazoo Racing Concept, but as yet, we’re yet to see the real thing.

This isn’t it, either. What it is instead is the new Supra’s headlights and signature grafted onto a NASCAR, unveiled at Daytona Speedway this week ahead of its debut at the same circuit in, um, February 2019. Yeah, long time to wait.

Toyota has long campaigned its Camry as a NASCAR, and Camry fanatics (there must be some of you out there) can rest assured that it’s not being replaced; instead, Toyota is running three different NASCARs across three different series next year. The Supra will take part in the NASCAR Xfinity Series.

Enough to temper your impatience for the new Supra road car? Probably not. But rest assured we’ll see something from the new, BMW-engined sports car very soon…
