Not-Seat sporty sub-brand Cupra is back, folks. Oh yes. You thought you were safe with just the Cupra Ateca around? Get real. This is Cupra. “An exclusive brand for unique people, designed to captivate customers and meet all car lovers’ expectations of uniqueness, sophistication and performance”, it says here. Righty-ho then. Get ready for the, er, Formentor.

Yep, Formentor. That’s Formentor as in the Majorcan peninsula, not the ghostly baddies in Harry Potter. This angular SUV ‘concept’ is Cupra’s big deal for the 2019 Geneva Motor Show.

Only a concept car, Cupra? Yeah, right. Concept cars are usually made of papier-mache spliced with platinum and PVA glue. This one has proper door mirrors, a full interior, cupholders, and normal plastic vents. Looks ready for the road, doesn’t it?

You’d expect the Fermenting to have the same 296bhp turbo engine as the Cupra Ateca, but hey, this is Cupra guys, and they’re not about to go all predictable on you. Under the bonnet of the Formental is a plug-in hybrid powertrain making a total of 242bhp. We’re merely speculating, but it sounds frightfully similar to the Skoda Vision RS’s hybrid 242bhp heart.

Pure electric range is some 50km, which seems like an odd choice of figure to quote for sporty Not-Seat. Nope, no 0-100kph or top speed is estimated. Because it’s a ‘concept’…

Inside the Dementor, there’s carbon-backed bucket seats, a 10-inch sat-nav screen, and a digital driver display. If you were playing modern fast car interior bingo, that ought to be your full house.

So, since there’s not much more to discuss tech spec-wise, let’s get back to those looks. Do you like Cupra’s new For Rental? Sound off below if you want this ‘concept’ to make it to showrooms.
