Roofless Nissan Leaf, anyone?

You think a turbocharged Civic Type R ute is mega? How about a roofless Nissan Leaf? How about that?

Nissan disclosed this open-air version of the EV in Tokyo a few days ago at a forum held to celebrate the car’s 100,000 unit sales milestone after it was introduced back in 2010. Nissan is also quick to say this is one car that won’t make it to production.

Not that it ever crossed our minds, at least not with this design. It sure looks like there is no allocation for a roof anyway, making a very quiet but very wet drive through Shinjuku, Tokyo, or indeed Bangsar during an evening shower a very embarrassing possibility.

The new Leaf is made its global debut in October 2017 with an improved range and advanced Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies including e-Pedal, and ProPilot. The new Leaf will be introduced into the Malaysia market later this year, with official local Nissan distributor, Edaran Tan Chong Motor, working hard to have it during KLIMS 2018.
