Pininfarina's PF0 supercar will have nearly 2000bhp

Paying attention? Good, because Pininfarina has revealed more information about its PF0 hypercar, and it’s stuff you want to know.

As a top-tier supercar, ‘POWER’ is probably your biggest concern. Pininfarina has revealed the PF0’s fully electric set-up is supplied by Rimac, which not only gives it some pre-existing plug-in supercar cred, but a nice link to motorsport (Rimac having developed previous Formula E powertrains).

A quick look at the PF0’s promised stats proves they’re pretty much identical to the Rimac C_Two. They’re a Top Trumps dream ticket, with around 1900bhp, 2,305Nm, a sub-2sec 0-100kph time and a 400kph-plus top speed. All combined with a fully charged range of around 480kph.

What’s not to like? Possibly the £1.7m price tag, but with only 150 being made, the customer base is deliberately exclusive anyway.

The rest of Pininfarina’s announcements are a little more company-focused, but still of huge interest, especially when it comes to giving the PF0 some credibility in an apparent sea of plug-in supercar concepts. Its European base will be in Munich – home to another, reasonably well known performance car maker – while it’s also secured a couple of new members of staff with familiar names on their CV.

There’s the new Chief Technical Officer, Christian Jung, who’s worked at BMW and Porsche, helping kick-start the latter’s Mission E electric project. Then there’s Peter Tutzer, the new Senior Technical Advisor, also formerly of Porsche before he moved to Pagani, working on the chassis of the Zonda, then to Bugatti to help develop the Veyron.

Good names to have on board, huh? As is Nick Heidfeld - official job title ‘Automobili Pininfarina Development Driver’ - who has Formula 1, World Endurance Championship and Formula E racing experience under his belt.

It all bodes well for how finessed and fun the PF0 should be when it appears in 2020. Excited?
