Mercedes-Benz Malaysia achieves new sales record for Q1

Mercedes-Benz Malaysia (MBM) continues their strong sales performance with 3,335 vehicles sold during the first quarter of 2018, a 13.2 per cent growth compared to the same period last year. January alone saw 1,200 of sales, 32 per cent more than January 2017. Together with February, it has been the best first two months in the company’s history.

During his presentation, Dr. Claus Weidner, president and CEO of MBM, said, “We are pleased that our diverse portfolio of over 50 fascinating vehicle variants paired with our value-driven campaigns and engaging events continue to excite our customers and meet their diverse lifestyles and requirements.”

The Q1 number include the 1,965 units of C-, E-, and S-Class models sold. From the compact class consisting of A-Class, B-Class, GLA, and CLA, the number of vehicles sold amount to 596 units. This represents and increase of 8 per cent and 37.5 per cent respectively (versus the same period in 2017).

Mercedes SUVs saw a jump of 13.6 per cent with 675 units sold.

The growth includes models from the Mercedes-Benz Dream Cars range with 94 units sold, signifying a 1 per cent increase.

In the Asia Pacific region, a total of 249,106 units of Mercedes-Benz vehicles were sold in Q1 (+13.5 per cent), off that amount, 88,976 were from the month of March. South Korea and India joins Malaysia in setting the respective companies’ new sales record in the first three months of a calendar year.

Globally, Mercedes-Benz sold 594,304 units of vehicles in Q1 2018, an increase of 6 per cent, March being the best month with a total of 237,307 units.
