LEVC unveils e-Camper, world's first electric campervan

By sep, 29 June 2021

The London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has revealed its first impressions of what's going to be the world's first electric campervan. Called the e-Camper, the campervan offers zero-emission capabilities with zero range anxiety that can basically travel up to 98km on pure EV power together with a 489km total flexible range thanks to LEVC’s e-City range extender technology.

Technically, it's a PHEV thanks to its 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine that's paired with a 150PS electric motor and a 31kWh lithium-ion battery. Also technically, the LEVC e-Camper is based on the brand's VN5 which also happens to be based on the TX electric London black cab (LEVC was previously known as the London Taxi Company for those of you who are wondering).

The e-Camper promotes zero carbon footprint on the campsite with some remarkable abilities to enhance your campervan experience. These include an integrated electric kitchenette, sleeping accommodation for four, pop-up roof, centre-folding table, and a second-row bench seat that folds into the second double bed. There's also a range of proprietary racks for those who are into outdoor activities like mountain biking and surfing.

According to Joerg Hofmann, CEO of LEVC, "The campervan market is growing rapidly and, despite these vehicles being used for coastal and countryside adventures which often include national parks and protected areas, they are still powered by petrol or diesel engines. This is a major conflict; we can see a shift in consumer attitudes, with demand for greener mobility solutions to help to protect and improve air quality. Our new electric, zero-emissions capable e-Camper offers the perfect solution and is well-equipped with high-quality features that can be tailored to meet a range of customer requirements."

The first deliveries of the LEVC e-Camper will commence sometime in Q4 of 2021 and those who are interested can expect to pay the expected price tag of around €73,000 (RM360,000). Interested parties may register their interest over at LEVC's official website.
