Concepts cars are an integral part of motorshows as it helps the public learn about what car companies have in store for the future. By that token, the Perodua X-Concept may point to a very interesting future for the nation’s top automotive brand.

We’re told that it was designed entirely by Perodua, and in the best tradition of concept vehicles, has no issues with little details such as costing, production demands, or other normal vehicle considerations. Which is why the side mirrors are impossibly thin and it employs sway doors with no B-pillars. It does look ace, though. The front grille is illuminated by LED, as is the Perodua logo. The Y-shaped headlamps are LEDs too while the turn indicators use dynamic pulse pattern

“Perodua’s stand at KLIMS18 offers a glimpse into a future direction it may take to meet the ever- evolving expectations of our valued customers,” said Perodua president and CEO Datuk (Dr) Aminar Rashid Salleh.

Inside, the X-Concept features a futuristic dashboard layout that incorporates a TFT instrument panel, a 12.9-inch central touch-screen and a flat-bottomed steering wheel.

Perodua’s R&D team are also present at KLIMS, and visitors are encouraged to talk to them and present feedback and views. Maybe we’ll do just that.
