Hyundai wants more from augmented reality too

It’s difficult to keep track of Hyundai when it is moving at such a rapid pace. Even when their sales in certain markets are not as expected, they are still actively pushing forward on every front, be it research, model development/update or innovation. And it is still tough to believe that they are literally doing what the established, top manufacturers are doing.

Remember WayRay, the Swiss tech company which Porsche invested in to develop holographic augmented reality feature? Like we mentioned before, Hyundai is also in on the project with a sizeable investment of their own. Also in the move is Alibaba.

What are all these giant firms expecting? A new, more effective way in projecting information to a driver (even passengers) that is way beyond the limitations of current head-up display seen on more expensive cars. The augmented AR technology requires a small projection system which is able to provide a clearer image.

There is no limitation to the size it can display, meaning that the image may cover the entire windshield. There’s good reason to feel excited about this as it opens up a lot for what a driver can learn. Important information such as traffic information, vehicle alerts and control can be presented much clearer and all without the driver being as distracted as they can currently.
