Three new BMW X3 (one PHEV) and one new BMW X4 are now available

BMW Malaysia has officially introduced three new variants for the 2022 BMW X3 range and one new model for the BMW X4. The X3 comes in three models - sDrive20i M Sport, xDrive30i M Sport, and the PHEV xDrive30e M Sport. The X4? It's the xDrive30i M Sport.

Looking at the names, all of them come with the M Sport Package available as standard which includes upgraded equipment plus a 'streamlined range of vehicle configurations'. This is noticeable via their larger air intakes up front, specific front aprons, plus an array of colour options, rims, and interior finishes.

Both the new 2022 BMW X3 and X4 have gone under the knife for some visual updates like its new and larger kidney grilles, vertical air intakes, bumper, redesigned LED headlights, plus other visual cues. The PHEV X3 comes with an extra charging port behind the left front wheel for obvious reasons, of course.

The 2022 models are pretty much the same in terms of dimensions compared to the previous gen, but customers can now opt for a selection of alloy wheels ranging up to 20 inches. If you prefer your Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) to have a more 'coupe' look and feel, the new X4 might just float your bubble thanks to its sleek roofline and other sporty elements.

As for firepower, the new 2022 BMW X3 sDrive20i and xDrive30i are powered by the same 2.0-litre four-cylinder TwinPower Turbo petrol engine that produces 184hp and 300Nm of torque for the former and 252hp and 350Nm for the latter. 0-100km/h is achieved in 8.2 seconds and 6.3 seconds respectively. Top speed? 215km/h and 240km/h. Transmission? 8-Speed Automatic Steptronic with Automatic Hold Function for the sDrive20i and 8-speed Steptronic Sport transmission for the xDrive30i.

If you prefer something that's a bit more eco-friendly, the BMW X3 xDrive30e M Sport has an electric range of up to 50km (WLTP) when driven in all-electric mode. On the other side of the spectrum, the X4 xDrive30i M Sport is not electrified, but it does come with adaptive suspension (the X3 comes with M Sport suspension).

Step inside the new X3 and X4 and you'll notice some updates in the form of:

  • Larger 10.25-inch Control Display touchscreen
  • Sport seats with pronounced side bolsters + leather upholstery
  • BMW i Blue details (only for the X3 xDrive30e)
  • Updated BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant
  • Updated BMW Driving Assistant + many more
