Naza Kia Malaysia has introduced the all-new Kia Rio to East Malaysia, starting with Kuching, Sarawak after it was launched in the state’s capital, together with the introduction of the new Sorento HS Turbo Diesel and new Sportage GT Turbo Diesel.

Head of company for Naza Kia Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., Nazman Yusof said during the launch,” “For East Malaysia, the Kia models in the local market has grown year-on- year. Seeing this increasing demand especially for SUVs in East Malaysia, we made the bold decision to make Kuching a springboard for other models to further strengthen Kia’s position here.”

“The acceptance of the Kia models in East Malaysia has been accelerating since we made our presence here in Kuching more than 15 years ago. We are happy to see a positive market response and hope that this will increase our presence in Kuching,” he added.

The Rio is powered by a 1.4 petrol engine that makes 100ps and 133Nm, priced at RM79,888.

As for the diesel-burning SUVs, they are both equipped with a 2.2-litre CRDi (Sorento) and 2.0-litre CRDi for the Sportage which provides torque of 440Nm and 400Nm respectively. They provide a driving range of up to 1,000km per tankful.

Additionally, the company is organising a special Merdeka sale throughout the month where every purchase of the Kia Sportage GT (for RM126,388) and Kia Cerato 1.6 SX (RM88,888) models will come with a 3-year free maintenance and service (including parts and labour), access to the Sky Lounge at the Subang Skypark airport, and 5-year warranty.
