Yamaha ramps up 2018 scooter range

New XMax 250 now available plus new colours for Ego Solariz & Avantiz

Malaysian Yamaha assembler and distributor Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) ramped up its scooter model line-up this past week.

Things began with the announcement of new colour schemes made available for both the Yamaha Ego Solariz (above) and Ego Avantiz (below) compact scooters. Arguably its more popular offerings, both versions of the Ego now comes dressed in several exciting new colours and graphics scheme.

Despite the refreshed look, HLYM keenly highlighted that prices for both the Ego Avantiz and Ego Solariz remain unchanged at RM5,717.60 and RM5,548.04 excluding insurance and registration.

Of greater note is the introduction of the new Yamaha XMax 250. Previewed earlier this year during the heavily face-lifted Yamaha MT-09 naked’s launch, the X-Max 250 is poised to woo urban commuters seeking a feature-laden scooter.

At the heart of the XMax 250 is a liquid-cooled single-cam (SOHC) 250cc single cylinder mill primed with electronic fuel injection. Paired with a twist-and-go CVT automatic, the powertrain is also Euro 4-compliant. Crucially, it’s also primed with both ABS and Traction Control, promising class-leading safety standards.

Elsewhere, the XMax 250 boasts a large under-seat storage bin that fits two XL-sized full-face helmets, LED lighting front and aft, full LCD digital supplementary instrument display, adjustable handlebar and windscreen positions, as well as a built-in 12-volt charging port and smart key function.

Prices for the XMax 250 starts from RM22,498.59 sans insurance and registration. Along with the refreshed Ego scooter twins, this new premium quarter-litre scooter will be available for purchase through authorised Yamaha dealerships nationwide this month.
