Expect the fifth-gen Lexus LS to come first quarter this year, price from RM799,000
If you are thinking of a buying a new luxury ride anyway, here’s something you can do this weekend – putting a deposit for the soon-to-be-launched 2018 Lexus LS. That’s right, UMW Toyota will be launching Lexus’ fifth-generation flagship luxury sedan in the first quarter of 2018.
The latest LS made its global market debut approximately a year ago during NAIAS in Detroit, packing the company’s first ever twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6 that makes 415hp and coupled to a 10-speed automatic transmission. The car also came with an intuitive, predictive steering system.
While industry sales leaders in the segment are based more on advanced tech and its history, Lexus adds Japanese artisanship. For example the interior is meticulously crafted with Kiriko cut glass and hand-pleated door trim which transforms according to lighting condition.
The new LS will come equipped with the Lexus Safety System that features a pre-collision system. This warns the driver of a possibility of collision so the driver may take the necessary avoidance maneuvers. Lane Departure Alert is also part of the system.
UMWT will offer three variants of the 2018 LS: the LS Luxury, LS Executive, and LS Executive (Hybrid). Prices are as below:
The cars will be fully imported from Japan, manufactured at Lexus’ Tahara plant. In Japan, 9,500 pre-order bookings have been made, which is 1,600 per cent higher than the sales goal of 600 units monthly.
