The two iconic companies collaborate to celebrate their styles
It was fated in the heavens, two legends in its respective industries collaborate to form a partnership that will highlight their commitment towards style and quality.
1969 was an important year for Zenith as it was the year when they introduced the fabled El Primero chronograph; but it was also the year when Land Rover introduced their very first Range Rover prototype. The latter only made it into production in 1970 but the excitement for Range Rover really started the year before.
These two milestones have now come together to celebrates their mutual longevity and shared values in a special edition watch called Zenith El Primero Range Rover.
This unique timepiece features a 42mm case made from ceramised aluminium to give it a very manageable heft. The dial sports the inscription “Zenith Range Rover” while the hands and hour-markers are rhodiumed and luminescent.
The clear case back affords a view of the celebrated El Primero movement which is renowned for its accuracy and unique ability among series-produced, mechanical chronographs to record elapsed times down to one-tenth of a second as a result of its high-frequency oscillation rate of 36,000 vibrations per hour (VPH) which gives over 50-hours of power reserve.
A clear distinction between this special El Primero over the rest is that both Zenith and Land Rover is engraved on the movement’s oscillating weights.
But it is the overall styling that ultimately gets your attention. Just like the SUV and its elegant instrumentation, the Zenith El Primero Range Rover is uncomplicated and undeniably stylish all the same.
The Zenith El Primero is one of the most distinctive watch designs ever produced, in my view. Therefore it has been imperative to honour and respect this iconic design. It had to remain unmistakably an El Primero, but allude to Range Rover DNA.” says Gerry McGovern, Land Rover Chief Design Officer.
Each Zenith El Primero Range Rover watch will be supplied on a black rubber strap with ivory-toned perforated calfskin and a black Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) coated titanium triple folding clasp. An additional rubber strap finished in Range Rover Navy Perforated Leather is also supplied.
