44.58s - Anthony Reid, Williams FW07B (2008)

Seen here at the Dutch Grand Prix in 1980, the Williams FW07B set an electric time up the Goodwood hill with Anthony Reid behind the wheel in 2008. The former Le Mans and BTCC driver absolutely nailed his run, which at the time put him third on the all-time list.

44.40s – Justin Law, Jaguar XJR8/9 (2009)

The XJR8/9 has made a number of Goodwood appearances at the hands of Justin Law. His effort of 44.40 seconds in 2009 not only put him top of the timesheets that year, but also gave him fourth spot on the all-time list. He also posted the fastest time in 2013 with a run of 45.95 seconds.

44.19s – Justin Law, Jaguar XJR8/9 (2008)

As if fourth fastest wasn’t good enough, Law’s 2008 run in the XJR8/9 ensures that 40 per cent of the top five positions at the Goodwood hillclimb belong to him. A time of 44.19 seconds hasn’t been bettered in the eight years since.

42.90s - Graeme Wight Jr., Gould GR51 (2013)

Five years previously however, a certain Mr Graeme Wight left the rest of 2003’s competitors in his dust as he powered up the hill in an astounding 42.90 seconds. Powered by a 2.5-litre V6 Opel Cosworth engine, it will take an almighty run to depose his Gould GR51 from second place.

41.60s - NICK HEIDFELD, McLAREN MP4/13 (1999)

Top of the pile is Nick Heidfeld, who set the Goodwood hillclimb record in the final FoS of the 20th century. Since then the rules have changed to prevent F1 cars from setting official times, so it might still take years for his record of 41.60s to be broken…
